MINUTES OF THE COMMON COUNCIL BUDGET MEETING
OCTOBER 27, 2008, 6:00 P.M.
CITY HALL, 710 HWY 35 SOUTH
Mayor Darrell Anderson called a meeting of the City of St. Croix Falls Common Council to order on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 6:08 p.m. Roll call: Councilpersons Debra Kravig, Brian Blesi, and Arnie Carlson present, Paul Kuhlmann arrived at 6:11 pm. Also present: Administrator Ed Emerson, Clerk Bonita Leggitt, Treasurer Gail Bibeau, Auditor Steve Schiedler, the public and the press. All joined in the salute to the flag.
PRESENTATION OF PROPOSED 2009 CITY BUDGET AND SETTING THE DATE FOR THE PUBLIC HEARING
Auditor Steve Schiedler went over the proposed 2009 City Budget line by line, proposed levy is $1,353.00 lower than last year. Annual General Obligation Debt payments were reduced due to some debts being retired, thus the decrease in debt payments was sufficient to make up for increased operating costs for 2009. The State has not yet released the 2008 Assessment Ratios, nor have they sent out final Statements of Assessment.
Brian Blesi moved to accept the proposed 2009 Budget and to set the date for Public Hearing on the Budget for November 17, 2008, second by Arnie Carlson, voice vote, motion passed.
